Koilonychia Pictures
« Back to Glossary Index
Koilonychia, also known as spoon nails, is a condition where the fingernail or toenail becomes concave or spoon-shaped. The nail curves inward, with the outer edges growing higher than the center, resembling a spoon. In severe cases, the nail may even become thin and brittle. Koilonychia can be a sign of various underlying health conditions, such as iron deficiency anemia, hemochromatosis, and Raynaud’s disease.
