Beau’s onychodystrophy is a condition characterized by the temporary or permanent deformity or dysfunction of the toenails. It is commonly caused by trauma or injury to the nail matrix, resulting in a disruption of nail growth. This can lead to various changes in the nail, such as ridges, grooves, discoloration, and even partial or complete loss of the nail. The condition is named after the French physician Joseph Honoré Simon Beau, who first described it in the 19th century.
