Bunions
« Back to Glossary Index
Bunions are a common toe deformity that typically affects the big toe. They are characterized by the displacement or angulation of the metatarsophalangeal joint, resulting in a bony bump on the inner side of the foot, at the base of the big toe. This bony prominence is often accompanied by inflammation, redness, and pain. Bunions can cause discomfort while walking or wearing shoes and may gradually worsen over time if left untreated.
