Hangnails

« Back to Glossary Index

Hangnails refer to small, torn pieces of skin (also known as agnail or step cut) that occur on the sides or around the edges of the toenail. They generally occur when the skin around the nail becomes dry, leading to the formation of small tears or cracks. Hangnails can be painful and can potentially lead to infection if not properly addressed.
